Traces turns what your car is already telling Gran Turismo 7 into something you can read — so you can see where the lap time actually goes, instead of guessing.
A telemetry app for Gran Turismo 7, running on your own PC.
While you drive, the game broadcasts what the car is doing — speed, throttle, brake, steering, gear, tyre temperatures, fuel, and where you are on track. Traces listens to that stream on your PC, draws it live, and keeps every lap you complete.
Afterwards you can put two laps side by side and see exactly where one gained on the other: which corner, which brake point, how much. The laps are ordinary files on your machine, and you can publish the ones you want to share to your own page here.
It runs on Windows alongside a PlayStation on the same network. Nothing is installed on the console, and nothing about how you drive is changed — Traces only reads.
Four steps, and the first three take about a minute.
The app finds your PlayStation on the network and asks the game for telemetry.
Live traces on screen, and overlays you can put straight into OBS if you stream.
Every finished lap is saved. Load two and read the difference corner by corner.
Publish the laps you choose to your own page, and send the link to anyone.
Two sites, two jobs.
Everything to do with Traces itself: downloading it, the published laps, and the answers to questions about how it works.
