Most problems are one setting away. Start with the fixes below — and if none of them helps, come and ask us on Discord.

Traces uses your DG‑EDGE account — the same one as the website. There is no separate password to remember.
Using the app also needs an active EDGE Premium subscription on that account.
Almost always one of these three, in order of likelihood:
Codes expire after 15 minutes — if yours has, just request a fresh one. Still nothing? Ask on Discord or use the contact form.
If the code arrives and you get in, but the app then says your subscription is not active, that is a separate thing — see Account & billing.
Every overlay is a web page. In OBS, add a Browser source and paste the overlay URL from the Overlays tab, with the background set to transparent.
Yes. Windows shows a SmartScreen notice for apps it has not seen often yet. Choose More info → Run anyway. Only download Traces from this site.
By far the most common category — and nearly always the console's address.
Almost always the saved PlayStation address is no longer the right one. Home routers hand out addresses that change, so the one Traces remembers can end up belonging to nothing.
The confusing part is that you still see a few seconds of data first: after Traces asks for telemetry, the console keeps sending for about ten seconds. Those are the packets you see. Then it stops, because the request is going to an address nobody is listening on.
Fix: press Search for console in Traces to pick up the current address. To stop it recurring, give the PlayStation a fixed (static) address in your router settings — then it never moves again.
Another program is already holding the port Traces listens on — most often a second copy of Traces still running, or another telemetry app.
Short gaps are usually Wi‑Fi interference. A wired connection to the console is the reliable fix. If it happens constantly on a cable, send us a report — the app records those gaps and we can read them.
Yes. Turn on replay recording in the Recording tab before you start playback, and Traces will record it like a live race.
Gran Turismo sends telemetry to one program at a time. Traces can pass it on to the rest.
127.0.0.1 instead of your console's address.Settings shows which apps are currently receiving, so you can tell “connected” from “misconfigured” at a glance.
SimHub will warn that another application is using UDP port 33740. That is usually fine — Traces holds it because Traces is the app talking to the console. But if SimHub will not start at all because of it, give SimHub a port of its own: put 127.0.0.1:33742 in Also send to and set the Gran Turismo 7 UDP port in SimHub to 33742. Ports 33739, 33740 and 33741 are Traces’ own — a local target on any of those is dropped, so it does nothing.
Worth doing either way: give the PlayStation a static IP on your router, so the console address you type into Traces stops changing.
If another app connects to the console and forwards to Traces (rather than the other way round), the data that reaches Traces is a shorter packet that contains no steering angle. Traces then shows a calculated estimate instead of a dead line.
For exact steering, let Traces connect to the console and pass the data on to the other app, as above. You keep your pedal effects either way.
Use the optional Also send to field in the same settings card, with that machine's address and port.
Where sessions live, what goes online, and who can see it.
Turn on auto‑upload in Settings → Publish laps to the web. Saved sessions then appear on your own page, and Settings shows the link to share.
Each session carries its own private/public setting — the padlock next to it in the Library switches between the two.
Private sessions are reachable only by someone with the direct link. Public ones are listed on your page. New uploads follow the rule you choose in Settings; you can change any session afterwards.
They flag laps that are not clean flying laps — a pit stop, a stop on track, a cut lap, or the first lap from a standing start. They explain why a lap is not a fair comparison. The app's FAQ describes each one.
Sessions are ordinary files on your PC, in the folder shown in Settings, and stay there whatever happens online. You can change the location, and download any session from the Library.
Deleting a session in the Library removes it from the website too, so a lap you take down stays down.
Yes, as long as you are signed in. Your best grade for each drill in Practice is saved to your account, so it is there on another PC and survives a reinstall.
Only your best counts — a worse run never replaces a better one, whichever machine it came from. Progress is yours alone and is never shown on your public page. Signed out, it stays on that computer only.
Traces keeps itself current from version 1.4.2 onwards.
The app checks for a new version when it starts and every few hours. A newer one downloads quietly in the background, and you are told when it is ready — never in the middle of a session.
Click the notice to open Settings → Software update and install it. If you ignore it, it installs the next time you close the app.
Versions before 1.4.2 cannot update themselves. Install the current version once from the download page — after that, updates arrive on their own.
Settings → Software update shows your installed version and has a Check for updates button.
Your account and subscription live on DG‑EDGE, not here.
DG‑EDGE holds your account and takes care of the EDGE Premium subscription and payments. This site is for Traces itself — the app, your laps, and the answers on this page.
Sign out and back in so the app re‑checks. If it still refuses after a payment went through, check your subscription page first, then message us with the e‑mail you use.
Discord is the fastest way — most questions are already answered there.
Discord is usually fastest, and most questions have already been answered there by us or by other drivers running the same setup.
If you would rather write to us privately, use the contact form on dg-edge.com.
Only send one when a member of the team asks for it — it is not needed for most questions.
Please do not post it in a public channel. The report describes your own machine — app version, Windows version, connection details and recent activity — and is meant only for whoever is helping you. It does not contain your password, sign‑in code or e‑mail address.
