Daily Race C
GarageWorksGT offered this lap in the Lap Analysis thread and shared the replay. Digit took the best of the four laps in "Sugo - Practice 1", the 1:18.048 on lap 4, put it against Digit's own best lap from the same Daily Race, a 1:16.321 in the same car on the same tyres, and went through it corner by corner in Traces.
GarageWorksGT drives in VR, so both replays were filmed twice: once from the chase camera and once from the cockpit, the view GarageWorksGT actually sees. Every corner below has both. Both laps were recorded live, not from a replay, so the brake points in both are where the pedal really went down and need no correction. Every number comes from Traces: the Coach, or the telemetry of the two laps measured at the same point on the track. Distances are metres from the start line, measured along the reference lap. It's the same car, so gears and steering lock can be compared directly.
The summary
GarageWorksGT loses 1.727 s over the lap. The Coach puts 64% of it in three places:
- Segment 2, +0.479 s: apex 2.6 km/h slower, exit 5.1 km/h down at the segment end, 12 corrections against 22.
- Segment 5, +0.342 s: apex 11.2 km/h slower, exit 4.8 km/h down at the segment end, 1,671 rpm lower at the apex, lowest revs 819 below the reference.
- Segment 4, +0.287 s: apex 8.1 km/h slower, the two lines are 3.8 m apart at the driver's apex.
Fix first: Segment 2, carry more speed through the apex. That segment alone is 0.479 s.
Going corner by corner, the three most expensive corners hold 0.938 s of it: turns 7 and 8 (0.344 s), turn 6, the big stop (0.298 s), and turn 1 with the curve after it (0.296 s). No single corner holds most of the gap. A little goes almost everywhere, and almost always for one of three reasons.
GarageWorksGT also posted a first review of the lap: brake harder and earlier for the same duration, increase the turn-in angle, and roll more speed through two corners. The data agrees with two of those. Harder, yes: GarageWorksGT's brake takes 0.25 to 0.28 s to reach 95%, where Digit's takes 0.12 to 0.17 s, and in turns 4 and 5 it peaks at 56% and 64% against Digit's 83% and 73%. Earlier, no: the first touch is within 1 to 4 m of Digit's at every stop, so the brake points are already right. More turn-in, yes: in six of the eight corners GarageWorksGT uses less steering lock than Digit, and in turns 1, 4, 5 and 6 the line runs wider.
The one thing to fix first: Segment 2, from the curve after turn 1 to 1,030 m. Keep the foot in where the reference does. In the curve after turn 1 GarageWorksGT's throttle drops to 40.8%, and in turn 3 to 28.2%, where Digit's doesn't go below 65.5% and 62.4%.
The habit behind most of it
Before going corner by corner, it helps to see the pattern. The brake points are right. What follows them isn't quite: the brake builds slowly and not as hard, so the car arrives at the corner too fast. Twice the gear is one higher than Digit's, so the car has less to pull with on the way out. And in the fast corners, there are lifts where Digit keeps the foot in.
| Corner | GarageWorksGT | Digit's | Speed, GarageWorksGT vs Digit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Turn 1 | 3rd gear, 85.9% throttle at 312 m, then 23.9% brake at 342 m | 2nd gear, full throttle from the apex at 339 m | 106.9 vs 109.6 km/h |
| Curve after turn 1 | down to 40.8% at 518 m | down to 65.5% at 505 m, flat from 520 m | 165.8 vs 172.2 km/h at 580 m |
| Turn 3 | down to 28.2% at 855 m | down to 62.4% at 860 m | 124.2 vs 133.2 km/h |
| Turn 4 | brake peaks at 56%, off at 1,139 m | 83%, off at 1,123 m | 122.9 vs 126.5 km/h |
| Turn 5 | 82.7% at 1,283 m, then 2.0% at 1,292 m | full at 1,284 m | 112.6 vs 117.1 km/h at 1,306 m |
| Turn 6 | 95% brake 0.28 s after the first touch | 0.12 s | 95.0 vs 103.1 km/h |
| Turn 7 | 4th gear, no throttle until 2,306 m | 3rd gear, back on it after 2,269 m | 138.0 vs 149.2 km/h |
Each corner below has four pictures. The first is the Performance page with the map zoomed in on the corner, with the reference's video at the same metre. The second and third put the two replays side by side at the same point on the track, first from the chase camera and then from the cockpit, GarageWorksGT's on the left. The fourth is the Telemetry page zoomed to the corner. The short spikes in the throttle traces during braking are the blips on the downshifts, on both laps.
Turn 1: the right-hander at the end of the main straight, and the left curve after it 0.296 s
The braking is right: GarageWorksGT is on the brake at 166 m and Digit at 168 m, at the same speed, 239.0 against 239.6 km/h. GarageWorksGT comes off it at 289 m, 10 m before Digit's 299 m, and stays in third where Digit changes down to second. With third gear and an early release, GarageWorksGT carries more speed into the corner and goes to 85.9% throttle at 312 m, before the apex. The car can't turn on that, so GarageWorksGT lifts and goes back on the brake, up to 23.9% at 342 m. For a moment GarageWorksGT is even ahead, by 0.007 s at 350 m.
Then the line runs wide, up to 1.7 m at 370 m, and the speed drops to 106.9 km/h at 370 m, against Digit's 109.6 km/h at 339 m. GarageWorksGT is back on full throttle at 374 m, Digit at 339 m. By 460 m the gap is 0.168 s.
The curve after it adds the rest. After the upshift Digit is back at 100% from 520 m. GarageWorksGT lifts to 40.8% at 518 m and is back at full throttle at 539 m, and reaches the braking for turn 2 at 180.4 against Digit's 184.4 km/h at 650 m.
What to change: change down to second, stay off the throttle until the apex, then go to full throttle once and keep it there through the curve after it.
Turn 2: the second-gear left 0.126 s
This is the corner closest to the reference. The brake points are 1 m apart, 667 m against Digit's 666 m, GarageWorksGT comes off the brake at 731 m against Digit's 735 m, and the lines are within 0.1 m of each other at the apex. The difference is small and late: at 752 m GarageWorksGT is at 11% throttle and Digit at 61%, so the slowest point is 85.2 km/h at 761 m against Digit's 87.8 km/h at 753 m. Full throttle comes at 771 m, only 2 m after Digit's 769 m. Most of what goes here is carried in from turn 1: GarageWorksGT arrives 4.0 km/h slower.
What to change: almost nothing. Pick the throttle up a moment earlier at the apex.
Turn 3: the bend at 900 m 0.220 s
There's no braking in turn 3 on either lap. It's a lift for the left curve out of turn 2 and then a flat-out right. Digit lifts too, but only to 62.4% at 860 m. GarageWorksGT lifts to 28.2% at 855 m, and the speed drops from 126.5 km/h at 850 m to 122.6 km/h at 870 m, while Digit's goes from 130.8 to 132.1 km/h. GarageWorksGT is back at full throttle at 876 m, but the lower speed carries all the way to turn 4: 163.1 against Digit's 168.0 km/h at 1,030 m. The line is close to the reference: 0.6 m to the right at 860 m, and 0.7 m wide through the right-hander.
What to change: make the lift smaller, about as small as the reference's, and the car still turns.
Turn 4: the right-hander at 1,143 m 0.100 s
GarageWorksGT brakes 4 m after Digit, at 1,077 m against 1,073 m, but the brake only reaches 56%, where Digit's goes to 83%. So GarageWorksGT gains under braking, 0.049 s between 1,081 m and 1,130 m, but is still 5.3 km/h faster than Digit 20 m before the reference apex, 138.9 against 133.6 km/h, and stays on the brake until 1,139 m, 16 m after Digit is off it at 1,123 m. Digit also changes down to second for the slowest part; GarageWorksGT stays in third. The car runs 1.3 m wide at 1,167 m, the slowest point is 122.9 km/h at 1,162 m against Digit's 126.5 km/h at 1,143 m, and full throttle comes at 1,164 m against Digit's 1,154 m.
What to change: brake harder at the same point, so the car is slow enough to be off the brake by about 1,123 m and turned to the apex.
Turn 5: the right-hander at 1,283 m 0.170 s
GarageWorksGT brakes 3 m after Digit, at 1,225 m against 1,222 m, with less pressure, up to 64% against 73%, is off the brake at 1,266 m against Digit's 1,260 m, and picks up the throttle early, to 82.7% at 1,283 m. Through the apex GarageWorksGT is faster, 112.2 against Digit's 108.7 km/h, and by 1,295 m has gained 0.037 s. Then comes a second lift, to 2.0% at 1,292 m, while Digit goes to full throttle at 1,284 m. The line runs 1.1 m wide at 1,322 m, full throttle comes at 1,305 m, and the slower exit costs more down the long straight than the corner gained.
What to change: wait for the apex, then go to full throttle once, and don't come back off it.
Turn 6: the big stop 0.298 s
This is where GarageWorksGT's own review is most right. The brake points are 4 m apart, 1,935 m against Digit's 1,931 m, at the same 235 km/h. But Digit's brake is at 95% 0.12 s after the first touch, at 1,938 m, and GarageWorksGT's takes 0.28 s, until 1,953 m. GarageWorksGT also stays in fifth longer before the downshifts. So the car is faster than the reference all the way down the braking zone, and GarageWorksGT gains 0.121 s by 2,036 m.
That speed can't make the corner. GarageWorksGT is still on the brake at 2,042 m, 10 m after Digit is off it. The car runs wide, 3.9 m wide of the reference line at the reference apex and 4.2 m at 2,066 m, with up to 128° of steering against Digit's 114°. The slowest point is 95.0 km/h at 2,051 m, against Digit's 103.1 km/h at 2,052 m, and full throttle comes at 2,060 m against 2,052 m. Between 2,036 m and 2,108 m GarageWorksGT loses 0.340 s, almost three times what the braking gained.
What to change: same brake point, but hit the pedal hard straight away, so the car is slowed by the turn-in and can take the corner on the reference line.
Turns 7 and 8: the left-hander and the kink 0.344 s
This is the most expensive stretch, and the simplest to fix. Neither driver brakes. Both lift, and both reach the corner at the same speed: 153.7 against 153.5 km/h 20 m before the apex, and 149.9 against 149.4 at 2,280 m. Then two things are different. Digit is in third, GarageWorksGT in fourth, which is where the Coach's 1,671 rpm lower at the apex comes from. And Digit is back on the throttle after 2,269 m, while GarageWorksGT stays off it until 2,306 m. With no throttle and a tall gear, the car keeps slowing: the slowest point is 138.0 km/h at 2,313 m against Digit's 149.2 km/h at 2,278 m. By 2,370 m the gap has grown by another 0.188 s.
The kink comes straight after, and GarageWorksGT arrives 8.4 km/h slower: 158.7 against 167.1 km/h at 2,380 m. Digit lifts to 0% at 2,419 m and is flat again at 2,429 m. GarageWorksGT lifts a little earlier, to 8.6% at 2,404 m, then holds 62 to 68% until 2,440 m and is at full throttle at 2,446 m. The lines are right: 0.1 m apart at the kink.
What to change: take turn 7 in third gear and get back on the throttle at the apex, as in every other corner, rather than coasting through it.
Turn 9 to the line 0.177 s
The last corner is close. Both drivers lift at the same point, GarageWorksGT to 14.9% and Digit to 12.5% at 2,734 m. GarageWorksGT stays in fifth the whole way, where Digit comes into it in fourth and changes up at 2,730 m. The slowest point is 175.6 km/h at 2,752 m against Digit's 176.2 km/h at 2,739 m, and full throttle comes at 2,752 m against 2,739 m. GarageWorksGT crosses the line at 229.0 against Digit's 229.6 km/h. Most of the 0.177 s builds up on the run to the line: 0.115 s from 2,790 m on, where GarageWorksGT's speed is 1.7 km/h lower.
What to change: keep the lift as short as it is, and be back to full throttle at the apex.
What to practise
One focus for the next session: keep the foot in where the reference does. Start with Segment 2, because it is the biggest part of the gap: in the curve after turn 1 and in turn 3, make the lift smaller, so the throttle doesn't go below about two thirds. Then take the same idea to turn 7: third gear, and back on the throttle at the apex instead of coasting.
Judge it in Traces after each run, not by feel. In the curve after turn 1 GarageWorksGT's throttle drops to 40.8% now, and in turn 3 to 28.2%. At turn 7 it stays off until 2,306 m, where Digit is back on it after 2,269 m. When those numbers come closer to the reference's, the time comes with them.
Off the track, the Drills in Traces train it with just the pedals. Throttle Hold builds a steady throttle with no lifts, which is what the curve after turn 1, turn 3 and turn 7 are missing. Brake Ramp Up builds the quick, hard first press on the brake that GarageWorksGT's own review asked for: 0.25 to 0.28 s to reach 95% now, against Digit's 0.12 to 0.17 s. Brake Release builds coming off the brake before the apex, as in turn 4, where the brake stays on 16 m longer than the reference's.
What is already good
The brake points are as good as anyone's: within 1 to 4 m of the reference at every stop, and at the same speed. Turn 2 is almost identical to the reference, with the brake point 1 m apart, the release 4 m apart, the line within 0.1 m and full throttle 2 m later. Through turn 5 GarageWorksGT is faster than Digit at the apex, 112.2 against 108.7 km/h. And the laps get better every time: 1:19.537, 1:18.638, 1:18.263, then 1:18.048, each one faster than the one before. The braking points and the lines are already in place. What's left is in the pedals.
Measured in Traces: GarageWorksGT's 1:18.048 (lap 4 of "Sugo - Practice 1") against Digit's 1:16.321, SUGO International Racing Course, Subaru BRZ GT300 '21, Daily Race C, Week 44/2026, Racing Soft. Both laps recorded live; both replays filmed from the chase and cockpit cameras. Times lost per corner are the gap between the two laps at the corner's start and end; the Coach's segment times are its own.
