Daily Race C
Simon C sent this lap to the Lap Analysis thread: a PB of 1:18.801, in a session named "For Analysis - BRZ PB". Digit put it against Digit's own best lap from Daily Race C, Week 44/2026, a 1:16.321 in the same car, and went through it corner by corner in Traces.
A note on the recording first. Simon C recorded the lap from the replay, and the recording started a moment after the replay did, so the uploaded lap begins 114.8 m after the start line. The time is right, but the first 1.8 s of the lap have no data, which threw the Coach off. So Digit played the replay again and recorded it from before the line. Where both recordings have data, the two match to the millimetre, so this is Simon C's lap, just complete. Digit also filmed the replay, so every corner below has both videos side by side.
Because Simon C's lap comes from a replay, its brake trace runs late. The brake points here are taken from where the brake lights come on, the way Traces does, and the analysis doesn't compare how quickly the brake builds or when it comes off, because a replay can't show that reliably. Simon C's tyres aren't in the file, so it can't say whether both laps were on the same ones. Every other number comes from Traces: the Coach, or the telemetry of the two laps measured at the same point on the track. Distances are metres from the start line, measured along the reference lap.
The summary
Simon C loses 2.480 s over the lap. The Coach puts 68% of it in three places:
- Segment 3, +0.643 s: the driver turns in 9 m later, the two lines are 1.5 m apart at the driver's apex, the driver comes off the brakes 13 m sooner.
- Segment 2, +0.633 s: apex 0.1 km/h slower, exit 4.5 km/h down at the segment end, the driver comes off the brakes 13 m sooner.
- Segment 4, +0.408 s: apex 1.6 km/h slower, exit 5.7 km/h down at the segment end, the two lines are 1.3 m apart at the driver's apex.
Fix first: Segment 3, turn in 9 m earlier, where the reference does. That segment alone is 0.643 s.
Going corner by corner, the three most expensive corners hold 1.180 s of it: turn 6, the big stop (0.438 s), turn 1 with the curve after it (0.413 s), and turn 4 (0.329 s). Turn 5 is close behind at 0.312 s. As with most laps, no single corner holds most of the gap. Simon C loses a little almost everywhere, and almost always in the same place: after the apex.
The one thing to fix first, the same as the Coach: Segment 3, turns 4 and 5. In turn 4 Simon C slows the car to 117.2 km/h where the reference is at 126.5 km/h, and in turn 5 Simon C's throttle stays under 2% until 1,308 m, where the reference is at full throttle from 1,284 m. Carry the speed into turn 4, and get back to full throttle at the apex of turn 5.
The habit behind most of it
Before going corner by corner, it helps to see the pattern. Simon C's brake points are right, and in turns 2 and 5 Simon C even carries more speed through the middle of the corner than the reference. The time goes after the apex. Once the throttle is picked up, it often stops short of full, or comes back off again, where the reference goes to 100% and stays there. And in turns 4 and 6 the braking slows the car more than the corner needs.
| Corner | Simon C | Digit (reference) | Speed, Simon C vs reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Curve after turn 1 | between 40.4 and 89.8% from 492 to 588 m | 163.2 vs 172.2 km/h at 580 m | |
| Turn 3 | 0% at 838 m, and 62.0% again at 896 m | 119.0 vs 130.3 km/h at 848 m | |
| Turn 4 | slowed to 117.2 km/h, 74.9 to 85.9% until 1,168 m | 127.2 vs 147.1 km/h at 1,104 m | |
| Turn 5 | under 2% from 1,259 to 1,308 m, full at 1,324 m | 111.3 vs 124.3 km/h at 1,320 m | |
| Turn 6 | 91.8% at 2,033 m, then down to 7.8% at 2,061 m | 104.2 vs 109.4 km/h at 2,070 m | |
| Turn 7 | between 43.5% and full from 2,262 m, held at 100% from 2,358 m | 157.0 vs 167.6 km/h at 2,360 m |
Each corner below has three pictures. The first is the Performance page with the map zoomed in on the corner, with the reference video at the same metre. The second puts both replays side by side at the same point on the track. The third is the Telemetry page zoomed to the corner. The short spikes in the throttle traces during braking are the blips on the downshifts, on both laps.
Turn 1: the right-hander at the end of the main straight, and the left curve after it 0.413 s
The braking is right: both cars are on the brake at 168 m, Simon C at 239.0 and the reference at 239.6 km/h, and at 270 m both are at 137.4 km/h. From there the corner is different. The reference changes down to second at 281 m and stays in it until 345 m, past the apex. Simon C touches second for a moment at 305 m and is back in third at 329 m. Simon C's line runs wide, 3.0 m wide of the reference's at its apex and 3.4 m at 360 m, and the slowest point is 108.2 km/h at 365 m in third, against the reference's 109.6 km/h at 339 m in second. The reference is at full throttle at 339 m, Simon C at 369 m. By 460 m Simon C is 0.263 s down.
The curve after it adds the rest. Both cars change up to fourth here, Simon C at 482 m and the reference at 496 m. After that the reference is above 90% again from 510 m. Simon C's throttle stays between 40.4 and 89.8% from 492 m to 588 m, and goes above 90% at 589 m. At 580 m Simon C is at 163.2 km/h and the reference at 172.2, and Simon C reaches the braking for turn 2 at 176.8 against the reference's 184.6 km/h at 650 m.
What to change: change down to second for the apex and keep the car on the reference's line, then go to full throttle once and keep it there through the curve after it.
Turn 2: the second-gear left 0.204 s
The brake points are 1 m apart, 667 m against the reference's 666 m, but Simon C arrives 7.0 km/h slower, 180.3 against 187.3 km/h, because of the curve before it. Simon C changes down to second at 697 m, the reference stays in third until 722 m. Through the middle of the corner Simon C is faster: 98.4 against 93.1 km/h at 740 m, and 95.2 against 89.3 at 748 m. Between 732 m and 756 m Simon C gains 0.047 s. Then the reference picks the throttle up first: at 756 m the reference is at 77.3% and Simon C at 14.6%. Simon C's slowest point is 87.6 km/h at 768 m, against the reference's 87.8 km/h at 753 m, and full throttle comes at 776 m against 769 m. The lines are within 0.1 m of each other at the apex.
What to change: keep the speed carried through the middle, and pick the throttle up a moment sooner, around the reference's 756 m.
Turn 3: the bend at 900 m 0.283 s
There's no braking in turn 3 on either lap. It's a lift for the left curve out of turn 2, then a flat-out right. The reference lifts too, but only to 62.4% at 860 m, and is above 90% again from 870 m. Simon C lifts right off, to 0% at 838 m, where the reference is still at 100%. At 848 m Simon C is at 119.0 km/h and the reference at 130.3. Simon C is back above 90% at 876 m, then lifts once more, to 62.0% at 896 m in the right-hander, where the reference stays flat, and is above 90% again at 917 m. The lines are close, within 0.7 m. The lower speed carries all the way to turn 4: 163.6 against the reference's 168.0 km/h at 1,030 m.
What to change: make the lift a partial one. About two thirds throttle is enough for the car to turn, and then stay flat through the right-hander.
Turn 4: the right-hander at 1,143 m 0.329 s
Simon C changes up to fourth at 1,035 m, where the reference stays in third, and brakes 2 m after the reference, at 1,075 m against 1,073 m, at 170.0 against 175.4 km/h. Then the speeds split: at 1,104 m Simon C is at 127.2 km/h and the reference at 147.1, and at 1,112 m 120.8 against 140.2. The car is slowed more than the corner needs. Simon C's slowest point is 117.2 km/h at 1,134 m in third. The reference's is 126.5 km/h at 1,143 m, with second gear for the slowest part. From 1,136 m to 1,168 m Simon C holds 74.9 to 85.9% throttle, and full throttle comes at 1,172 m against the reference's 1,154 m. Just before turn 5 Simon C lifts again, to 47.8% at 1,200 m, where the reference stays flat until 1,222 m. The lines are close: 0.6 m apart at the reference's apex.
What to change: same brake point, but less of it, so the car is still at about the reference's speed at the apex. Then full throttle once, and no lift before turn 5.
Turn 5: the right-hander at 1,283 m 0.312 s
This corner shows the habit most clearly. Simon C comes into it slower than the reference, 138.4 against 150.0 km/h at 1,224 m, and barely brakes, 29% at most, where the reference brakes from 1,222 m. So through the middle Simon C is much faster: 127.2 against 123.2 km/h at 1,252 m, and 123.2 against 111.7 at 1,270 m. Between 1,246 m and 1,294 m Simon C gains 0.105 s. Then the corner turns the other way. From 1,259 m to 1,308 m Simon C's throttle stays under 2%, with a touch of brake, and the slowest point is 109.9 km/h at 1,314 m, against the reference's 108.7 km/h at 1,283 m. The reference is at full throttle at 1,284 m, Simon C at 1,324 m. At 1,320 m Simon C is at 111.3 km/h and the reference at 124.3, and the long straight after it turns that into 0.396 s by 1,800 m.
What to change: keep the speed carried in, and be back on full throttle at the apex. That is the 0.105 s already gained, plus most of what the straight costs.
Turn 6: the big stop 0.438 s
This is Simon C's most expensive corner, and it happens in two parts. The brake points are 3 m apart, 1,928 m against the reference's 1,931 m, at the same speed. But Simon C's speed falls faster: 138.0 against 147.3 km/h at 2,000 m, 120.0 against 132.0 at 2,010 m. Simon C changes down to second at 1,997 m and back to third at 2,011 m. The reference stays in second until 2,050 m. Simon C's slowest point is 101.5 km/h at 2,031 m, against the reference's 103.1 km/h at 2,052 m. Between 1,990 m and 2,030 m that costs 0.120 s.
Then Simon C is at 91.8% throttle at 2,033 m, before the reference, but lifts again, down to 7.8% at 2,061 m. That's what the Coach means by a lift again after picking up. At 2,070 m Simon C is at 104.2 km/h and the reference at 109.4, 1.6 m apart. Simon C is above 90% again at 2,082 m, but between 2,070 m and 2,150 m it costs another 0.174 s, and the car leaves the corner at 153.2 against the reference's 160.3 km/h.
What to change: same brake point, but let the car roll a little more speed to the apex, then pick up the throttle once and don't lift again.
Turns 7 and 8: the left-hander and the kink 0.287 s
Neither driver brakes here. Simon C arrives 6.9 km/h slower, 153.0 against 159.9 km/h at 2,230 m, carried from the big stop. Through turn 7 itself Simon C is as quick as the reference: the slowest point is 148.7 km/h at 2,256 m, the reference's 149.2 km/h at 2,278 m, and by 2,280 m Simon C has lost only 0.022 s. After that, the reference is flat from 2,278 m. Simon C's throttle goes up and down between 43.5% and full from 2,262 m and only stays at 100% from 2,358 m, and at 2,360 m Simon C is at 157.0 km/h against the reference's 167.6.
The kink comes straight after. Simon C changes up to fourth at 2,368 m, then holds between 31.8 and 50.6% from 2,415 m to 2,445 m. The reference lifts in third to 2.7% at 2,376 m, changes up at 2,419 m, and is flat from 2,429 m. Simon C's slowest point is 156.3 km/h at 2,453 m against the reference's 160.2 km/h at 2,429 m, and full throttle comes at 2,463 m against 2,429 m. The lines are right: within 0.8 m at the kink.
What to change: after the apex of turn 7, go to full throttle and stay there, instead of holding half to most of it.
Turn 9 to the line 0.147 s
Here Simon C is quicker into the corner. The reference lifts from 2,622 m, and from 2,660 m to 2,720 m its throttle is no higher than 27.5%, in fourth. Simon C changes up to fifth at 2,642 m, keeps more throttle, and changes back to fourth at 2,703 m. Between 2,660 m and 2,751 m Simon C gains 0.057 s. Then Simon C is at 0% from 2,713 m to 2,756 m, while the reference is back at 100% at 2,725 m and in fifth at its apex at 2,739 m. Simon C's slowest point is 176.3 km/h at 2,773 m in fourth, against the reference's 176.2 km/h at 2,739 m, and full throttle comes at 2,776 m. The line runs wide: 2.5 m wide of the reference's at its apex and 4.7 m at 2,790 m. From 2,751 m to the line Simon C loses 0.193 s, and crosses it at 228.6 against the reference's 229.6 km/h.
What to change: keep the shorter lift before the corner, and turn in to the reference's apex to be back to full throttle at 2,739 m.
What to practise
One focus for the next session: once the throttle goes on after the apex, take it to full and keep it there. Start with Segment 3, as the Coach says: in turn 4, brake at the same point but less, so the car isn't down at 117 km/h, and in turn 5 be back on full throttle at the apex instead of rolling to 1,308 m. Then take the same idea to the big stop and turn 7, where the throttle comes back off after it has been picked up.
Judge it in Traces after each run, not by feel. In turn 5 Simon C is at full throttle at 1,324 m now, and the reference at 1,284 m. At the big stop Simon C's throttle drops to 7.8% at 2,061 m after it has been picked up. Through turn 7 it goes between 43.5% and full until 2,358 m. When those come closer to the reference's, the time comes with them.
Off the track, the Drills in Traces train it with just the pedals. Throttle Ramp Up builds one smooth pick-up from the apex to 100%, and Throttle Hold builds holding it there with no lifts, which is what turns 4, 5, 6 and 7 are missing. Brake Release builds coming off the brake on time, so the car isn't slowed more than the corner needs, as in turn 4 and the big stop.
What is already good
Simon C's brake points are as good as anyone's: 168 m against the reference's 168 m into turn 1, 667 against 666 m into turn 2, 1,075 against 1,073 m into turn 4 and 1,928 against 1,931 m into the big stop. Simon C also carries more speed through the middle of corners than the reference: in turn 2 a gain of 0.047 s between 732 m and 756 m, in turn 5 0.105 s between 1,246 m and 1,294 m, and into the last corner 0.057 s. And the lines are close to the reference's in turn 2 (0.1 m), turn 4 (0.6 m) and turn 7 (0.4 m). The braking and the commitment are there. What's left is the throttle after the apex.
Measured in Traces: Simon C's 1:18.801 ("For Analysis - BRZ PB", recorded from the replay; the data here re-recorded from the same replay from before the line) against M.Matika's 1:16.321, SUGO International Racing Course, Subaru BRZ GT300 '21, Daily Race C, Week 44/2026. Brake points on the replay lap from the brake lights; the reference was driven live. Times lost per corner are the gap between the two laps at the corner's start and end; the Coach's segment times are its own.
